When we phoned Mission Possible in early summer we knew that if we were going to lead something like this it could not before Christmas as our seasonal work would interfere with this. So secretly we thought going to Haiti (Haiti was on our heart) in Jan or Feb would work best for us. So when we called MP, all we asked was if they had a project for our church missions trip. It took only a few days and they called back and asked how our group would like to go to Haiti in Jan/Feb. To us that was the confirmation we needed to take on the leadership role and start making plans. We felt we had God’s blessing on our project.
It did not take long after we announced that we needed people to join us, that we had our max number of people. After one member backed out for medical reasons we had a replacement for him after a few phone calls. Changing the name on the ticket and on the insurance went smoothly with not a lot of extra cost. God answered prayer here as well. Once we had all the people in place the next step of faith was that the money needed to be raised would come in. $1779.00 per person X 15 seemed like an overwhelming amount. God has blessed us richly and with pooling the money the money was raised very quickly and not only that more than enough to cover the extra unexpected cost of the food and the shipping of it, plus enough to be used in the projects we will be working on out in Haiti. Praise God!!
The group is leaving Jan 27 and returning Feb 12 with an overnight layover in Miami both ways.
Part of our job description will be to build a guard house on the MP compound, some electrical in the Bible School also on the compound, some painting and possibly some tree planting. We will also be working at the LaHatte School rebuilding it after it crumbled in the earthquake.
We are aware of the dangers we will face there, there is a lot of political unrest, even anger at aid workers for not being able to provide help, and of course the ongoing cholera problem. Pray for safety of the team and that God will be able to use us for furthering his kingdom. Our prayer is that God will work in us and thru us.
The purpose of this blog is to keep everybody up to date and hopefully it will be updated at least once a day to inform you all as to how and what we are doing.
Thank you to all our prayer supporters, our financial supporters, and all those interested in our 2011 MENNILLE/HAITI MISSIONS TRIP!!!
